The 1772 botanical plate preserves historical naming while Kew’s current taxonomy treats Vincetoxicum officinale as a synonym of Vincetoxicum hirundinaria.
Cheiranthus fenestralis: from one genus to another
A 1772 plate identified as Cheiranthus fenestralis is linked by Kew POWO to accepted Matthiola incana subsp. incana.
Desmonema annasethe: Haeckel’s name in a newer genus
Haeckel’s historical Desmonema annasethe is preserved on the 1904 Kunstformen plate while WoRMS accepts Cyanea annasethe and records the older combination as the original name/unaccepted synonym.
The White-Headed Eagle: a historical name trail
Catesby’s “White-Headed Eagle” and Aquila capite albo are retained as historical naming while the reviewed current authority links the concept to Haliaeetus leucocephalus.
Hooke’s flea: probable species, not a 1665 species label
Hooke’s source says “flea.” A 2025 scholarly reassessment identifies the engraving as Pulex irritans, but ASEU keeps the species-level mapping probable rather than retrofitting it into 1665.
Hoefnagel’s elephant beetle: a probable modern match
The Rijksmuseum record uses the vernacular olifantkever; current Catalogue of Life/GBIF uses Elephant Beetle for Megasoma elephas. ASEU records the connection as probable, not definitive.
Seba’s plate: verified source, unresolved specimens
ASEU can verify the 1735 Seba source and plate while still refusing to guess the individual depicted specimens.
Regenfuss’s shells and crustaceans: a verified composite, unresolved taxa
The institutional record verifies a composite plate of shells and crustaceans, but it does not name the individual taxa. ASEU preserves that scope instead of splitting the image into invented species records.

R000067 is a parent integration, not a new ASEU research stage. It materializes the current canonical route and parent-participation contracts without declaring ASEU040 complete or expanding the source corpus.
