Geometry of light
Solstices, equinoxes, daylight duration, solar angle, hemisphere, latitude.
Seasonal Themes Universe · VIS-0192
What counts as seasonal? Separate physical cycles, ecological timing, local observation, and cultural representation.
Routes distinguish source-supported facts from newly authored synthesis. Seasonal labels are contextual, not universal.
Scope
Use the framework that matches the question. Do not make the calendar do the work of ecology, or a design metaphor do the work of evidence.
Solstices, equinoxes, daylight duration, solar angle, hemisphere, latitude.
Fixed calendar-month groupings make climate summaries easier to compare, but familiar season names are not globally neutral.
Leaf-out, flowering, migration and other recurring life-cycle stages can be observed without assuming a fixed date.
Many tropical regions are better described through rainfall seasonality than through cold/warm imagery.
Art, celebration, food, materials and design can organize the year in culturally specific ways.
This is not a forecast, climate-normal service, holiday authority, ecological identification tool, or universal four-season calendar.
Progressive learning
Advanced explanation stays downstream of observation.
Name place, time, subject, surface, light, moisture, biological state, or human context.
Choose astronomical, meteorological, phenological, atmospheric, observational, or cultural/editorial.
Only attach a mechanism when evidence supports it; otherwise label the step as interpretation.
Translate into color, texture, sequence, rhythm, composition, or story — and label that translation as a design choice.
