ICU now separates what a resource is, what evidence supports it, how time-sensitive it is, what reuse context is declared, whether commerce applies, and whether the surface is interactive or experimental. These labels are descriptive facts, not a trust score.
Source record preserves an idea/source entry. Published resource means ICU intentionally exposes the page. Maintained resource additionally requires an explicit review contract. None of these labels means “true,” “current,” or “for sale.”
Future Concept, In Development, Released, Available, Paused, and Retired retain the strict meanings in ICU’s lifecycle contract. “Available” remains a gated ICU status; merchant stock and a working web page are different facts.
Source preserved, Sources visible, External research, Editorial synthesis, and Tested in scope are deliberately different. A source link is provenance, not automatic fact-checking. Tested-in-scope requires retained evidence and limitations.
Time-sensitive material uses explicit checked/as-of and, when applicable, review-due metadata. ICU does not infer freshness from file age, release number, HTTP success, or an internal pointer named current.json.
ICU distinguishes no declared reuse permission, item-specific open reuse, a cited public-domain source declaration, external-reference-only material, mixed rights, and rights-review holds. Item-level terms control.
No public ICU offer, ordinary external merchant link, eligible ICU offer, and active ICU checkout are separate states. An external destination is not ICU inventory, price verification, fulfillment, or checkout.
Editorial/static, interactive, local-browser state, and experimental are behavior labels. They do not imply external validation, account-backed persistence, or production service availability.
Universes can keep terms such as reviewed plate, verified object, interpretation, documentary media, reconstruction, seller claim, or jurisdiction-specific standard when their local evidence model defines the scope. The shared layer never promotes those into a generic confidence score.
