Reading authorship & rights
How ICU separates original writing, AI assistance, public-domain source text and licensed material.
Original ICU writing
- Original ICU works identify their author label and disclose AI assistance when used.
- O023 pilot text was generated for ICU in this build and is not copied from a source work.
- Creative works do not inherit truth/evidence claims merely because they share topics with researched resources.
Public-domain text
- Public-domain publication requires a reviewed source edition and provenance record.
- Jurisdiction or rights uncertainty stays visible; a famous old title is not enough evidence by itself.
- No public-domain source text is imported in the O023 pilot.
Licensed or sourced text
- Licensed text requires explicit permission/license evidence before reproduction.
- Quoted research belongs under claim/source rules; creative source text is not treated as a research citation shortcut.
- If rights evidence is missing, the source text stays private or absent rather than being published.
