Season Lens · transparent calendar baseline
Autumn
Now?
A transparent Season Lens that separates astronomical calendar phase from local ecological autumn and current foliage. It works without location or a live provider and degrades instead of guessing.
The lens can calculate an astronomical calendar phase. It cannot infer what leaves, weather, wildlife or local ecology are doing from the calendar alone.
Safe default
No location still works.
Without a location or hemisphere, Autumn Universe returns an indeterminate seasonal state rather than guessing. Exploration remains available everywhere else in the universe.
Autumn state: indeterminate · no current provider · local ecological autumn unknown
Optional local-only calculator
Give the lens less than your location.
Choose a hemisphere or an approximate whole-degree latitude. Longitude is not requested. Browser geolocation is not called. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere by this local calculator.
The result is an astronomical calendar baseline only. It never unlocks a local ecological or current foliage claim.

Autumn state: indeterminate
- Basis
- No calendar basis
- Local ecological autumn
- Local ecological autumn: unknown
- Current foliage
- Current foliage: unknown
- Location handling
- No location selected
No location is selected, so the lens cannot resolve even an astronomical hemisphere context. Local ecological autumn remains unknown.
Location abstraction
Three modes, none of them a hidden location profile.
No location
Returns an indeterminate local state and makes no hemisphere or foliage claim.
Manual hemisphere
Calculates only the astronomical autumn phase for Northern or Southern Hemisphere.
Approximate whole-degree latitude
Derives hemisphere and low-latitude/equatorial guards without requesting longitude or browser geolocation.
Approximate latitude is rounded to a whole degree for this lens calculation and is not persisted by Autumn Universe. The calculator contains no storage, account write or network request.
Deterministic degradation lab
See what the lens refuses to pretend it knows.
These are deterministic reference scenarios, not claims about present-day conditions in real places. They demonstrate how the same state contract behaves when evidence is absent, historical, stale, fresh-observed, low-latitude or equatorial.

Local current-stage wording: capability demonstrated by synthetic observed fixture
Presentation rule: Only a fresh observed fixture can demonstrate the capability to state a local stage; this is test data, not a real current observation.

Currentness boundary
A calendar calculation is not a foliage report.
- Historical typical material may guide expectations, but it cannot become a present observation.
- Stale observed material remains visible as stale and loses current-stage capability.
- Low-latitude and equatorial contexts degrade rather than receiving a fabricated temperate season.
- Only current-capable evidence may unlock present-tense local-stage wording.
- No live seasonal provider is connected, so this page offers no real-world current foliage stage.

How to read the labels.
How Autumn Universe handles seasonal claims
The current sourced collection includes examples from the United States, Tasmania and Japan across Northern and Southern Hemisphere contexts. Autumn Universe is designed for wider geographic diversity, but this collection is not globally representative and does not yet include validated low-latitude or equatorial examples.
No location is required for core reading. Autumn Universe creates no persistent location profile and does not request precise browser location on page load.
- Observed
- A direct observation or measurement tied to a defined place/time. It may support current wording only while its freshness and scope remain adequate.
- Forecast
- A forward-looking estimate from a source or model. It must remain labeled as forecast and cannot be rewritten as an observation.
- Historical typical
- A recurring or historical pattern useful for planning. It never proves what is happening now.
- Modeled / inferred
- A derived estimate. Autumn Universe must expose the inference posture and cannot silently upgrade it to observed state.
- Editorial context
- Human explanatory context. It can help interpretation but cannot computationally determine Autumn State Engine output.
Source verification date, evidence capture date and seasonal-signal freshness are separate concepts.
Strong sources that materially disagree remain visibly unresolved until scope, time or methodology explains the difference.
