Eleventh-century katholikon with an octagon-domed plan and major mosaic program.
Narthex, naos, bema, and apse form a sequence experienced during worship.
Pantokrator at the narthex threshold, feast scenes in squinches, Pentecost over the altar area, and Virgin and Child in the apse create a specific coordinated program.
Substantial mosaics survive; the central dome’s original mosaic is lost and later fresco replaces it.
Lost dome imagery is not treated as surviving evidence.
The surviving program should not be universalized.

Greek/Aegean monastic and urban contexts.
Monument profiles are places of use/survival; the UNESCO three-monastery series is comparative.
No route among Daphni, Hosios Loukas and Nea Moni is inferred from shared typology.
Monastic, imperial and regional contexts vary by monument.
Shared architecture/mosaic characteristics are treated as comparison unless a source supplies directional influence.
Later Greek traditions remain chronologically separated from Middle Byzantine monuments.
